Need help with the menu settings on my DVX(Gamma, Iris, color and ect..). My teacher is more into presentation then substance. I need a (Hollywood)movie quality look. What should I do? I am shooting in the daytime and at night with a 500 watt light. Also, is there any way I use my camera to color correct while I'm shooting? My editing system doesn't have it. Please help!!!
Thanks in advance for any help. It's due friday.

Re: Please Help!!!

Whats due Friday? You have to shoot something (do tell us what it is) and then present it? Do you have to EDIT it? Is it an interview? What doesnt your editing system have? Which NLE are you using? Yes, you can COLOR CORRECT in camera but to what extent are you going after?

Calm down little grasshopper and tell us the details.

Re: Please Help!!!

My film project. It's a comedy short about the travels of false teeth and it's effect it has when people put them in their mouth. These false teeth as so beautiful that these hillbillies can't resist putting them in and then the fun begins. I do have to editit and I only have Imovie(mac) as editing software. It's not an interview. My editing system doesn't have color correction(to my knowledge) in it. The extentof the color correction is for it to look as professional as possible.

Re: Please Help!!!

The DVX will give you some wonderful footage in camera.  Im not familar with Imovie; but Id shoot Scene File 5 and do a proper White Balance.  Pay attention to the Exposure (Trust the camera this go around) and plan and get your shots.

Dont sweat I need CC and a filmlook.  If you have a DVX it will look nice.

Re: Please Help!!!

Storyboard EXACTLY what footage and shots you want (Stick figures are fine if you cant draw; its more about perspective). Get the shots you want. Then, get B Footage (Insert shots).

Keep your boards for Editing purposes. Shoot at least 3:1 ratio and when you get a REALLY GOOD TAKE get another one for safety.

The more footage you have the more you can work with later.

If you are new and still learning dont be afraid to 'steal' shots or 'comps' from scenes you do like.
