Hey guys, I'm building a balanced shoulder mount rig consisting of Small HD DP1 LCD and D|Focus Follow Focus for my Canon 7D. Here is a list of the components I'm using:

I've decided 100% to go with these parts - however, what I would like to know is: what is the best way to connect my 7D to the shoulder mount body (the first product on the list)...would this suffice?:

Thanks in advance to any replies! :)

Hey man, thanks for the suggestions :)

I am trying to build a rig like this:

...but using Redrock Micro parts and a DP1 LCD.

Jean,

I have a rig made up of pretty much your exact same shopping list, I did a quick walkthorugh on Vimeo here http://vimeo.com/7306588
I use the Same Manfrotto plate as you listed, and as an added bonus the dovetail on the RedRock shoulder mount also matches that plate.

Thanks so much for that Evan!

So does that mean I don't need the exspensive RedRock DSLR baseplate in order to be able to quickly take my 7D on and off that shoulder rig? I can just use the Manfrotto plate I listed??

By the way - great rig! Congrats!

And also, if that Manfrotto quick release plate were to allow me to attach the 7D to the RedRock shoulder mount I've listed, would it also work with this tripod?

And with this slider:

(According to a reivew by Camera Town, the indislider "offers 3/8" and 1/4-20" mounting screws for easy mounting to a tripod QR plate or directly to the tripod legs".)

Yep, thats what I did, I have the Manfrotto plate on my rig and my tripod but I can take my camera off the rig and pop it right on the tripods plate in a second, I actually had a few manfrotto plates free so I used one on the base of my rig as the offset of the shoulder mount meant it wasnt really suited as a mount point on the tripod.

As long as the tripod has the same sized manfrotto plate, I think its a 301 from memory yes. And as for the Indi Slider, I have one of those and it uses standard threads so you COULD put another manfrotto plate on it and then pop it on your tripod pretty quickly. Then you just have to decide how you want to mount the camera on the slider, if you want to pop a head on it or the camera straight which means you can tilt at all. I liked the slider but it felt a little limiting, so I built my own, a bit bigger and with a bit more latitude and mounting options, just did a blog post on it here www.tdepost.com
