FAQ Please help me decide which EVF to go with for my B-cam rig

Still don't get it. Of course the FS7 can have its own tally light enabled/disabled in its own menu - but how does it relate to the Eye?

Haven't got camera here..you mean its a setting in the EYE menu..? I believe its this.. the toggle switch located on the front of the EYE.. that you use for the menus.. that switch itself wil actually light up red in rec.. that is the "out board Tally "..

Tally Light
• Select to toggle tally light ON/
OFF. This is an SDI only feature and
your camera must have a record
light trigger enabled in its menu
for the Gratical to detect it.

On FS7 Menu:
Recording
SDI/HDMI Rec Control
Setting: On

On Eye Menu:
Overlays
Record Light
RECORD LIGHT: ON
RECORD LIGHT TYPE: Sony

Should cause the toggle button to light up the same as your on-camera tally light.

Once again I need your help, guys :)

If I went for the Gratical Eye, I'd like to be able to use it not just on my GH5 rig, but also with my FS7. Please advise on the mounting options - to the SmallRig GH5 cage, I could mount directly with their EVF rosette mount. Am I right that I could also attach that mount to Smallrig NATO rail - which in turn could go straight onto the FS7 15mm rod like in the picture (below) of someone's rig I found in this forum? Will this be an optimum way, or would you advise something else (yeah I'm aware of Zacuto's own Axis Mini + FS7 Rod Lock, but they're expensive). TIA

Piotr
I use this on a railblock that in turn slides onto 15 mm rails underneath my top handle on my GH5 cage...just got the Small Rig EVF bracket in your picture a month ago...no more Magic Arms, and very affordable...sturdy enough to use the eyecup as another contact point and infinitely adjustable...you really have to get the eyepiece to the front of your rig to make shoulder mounting comfortable....also use a similar set up off a Nato block on the back part of the handle with a Shogun mounted on another EVF version by Small Rig
This is the bracket I use for the EVF:

And these 2 components for the Shogun:

OK guys - I'm sure this will come as a surprise to most of you, but after a few days testing my FS7 with the Gratical Eye I took it off, as I find the FS7's own LCD a much better viewfinder! With the +5 diopter the display is much larger, and sharp from corner to corner. It has no cushion/barrel distortion, and it doesn't burn-in... If only the loupe was a bit shorter...

So I will be using my new pricey EYE only with GH5/Shogun rig...
