PLEASE HELP! Lines on tape..

I'm shooting a school project and need help.
Whenever I record and play back the scene is there but with lines across.
I believe this has happened before and I changed the tape, but I have bought two new ones same problem.
Do I need to clean something?
I have video and pic.

That's a "venetian blind" dropout, the worst kind of DV dropout. Definitely clean the heads.

it seems to me that dvx's get those venetian lines and then something like a sony vx series will get glitches instead of the lines. why is this?

Different kind of dropout. All DV cameras will get both. As near as I can tell the sparkly little glitches are caused by a tiny fragment of dust or something obscuring the tape, whereas the big venetian blinds get caused by something sticking to the heads and affecting multiple frames.

so I can get one of those head cleaning tapes?
or do I need to take in/ship it somewhere?
