PLEASE HELP! last clip and contents.

Hi,

I hope that i didn't screw up very badly. I was already worried about not having copied the lastclip files of some footage i did today, but then I read at another thread that you can rebuild it, and that some editor apps don't even need that file. Can someone please tell me if Avid needs it.

But then i got even more worried... I was searching the answer to this questions and I saw in a thread Barry saying that you can't rename the contents folder, that it has to be named contents. And yes I did this too. I renamed it p2.1 p2.2 etc. Please someone tell me that this is not serious, or if it is that i can just rename them contents again.

I have already delivered the footage and am dreading the fact that i may have REALLY screwed up.

Please someone say that everything is going to be allright.

Thanks,

Pedro

You can always just rename the folder.

Instead of renaming "contents", I put the contents folder within a custom named folder, so the drive looks like:

Reel1/Contents
Reel2/Contents

etc.

You should never put punctuation or other marks in the name though, as FCP (at least) won't be able to read the file names. So if you did "Reel#1/Contents", FCP might choke on that, whereas if it was "Reel1/Contents", that would work.

thanks

thanks

Barry,

Thanks for the answer. But I still don't know what will happen when the people I shot for try to open the ciips in avid. Won't they play? I can tell them to change the name files but if i don't have to i won't bother. And about the last clip thing, do you know if avid needs it, because if it needs thats another thing i have to chat with the producer.

Thanks,

Pedro

The story behind the questions

The story behind the questions

I know that i must look really stupid, but today was my first job with my camera shooting in hd. And I went for the job thinking that i would only shoot in mini dv. I didnt even take a laptop with me. But getting there , someone had a laptop. having done this before at home I thought it would be no trouble at all, but when it was time to store the files, I thought that such insignificant file as the lastclip wouldn't be necessary, and that it would be no troble at all to rename the folders so they wouldn't erase each other on the laptop. STUPID ME. It's obvious that I should have put them in another folder that I could label with different names. Well, thats 2 mistakes i'm never gonna do again.

But at least i'm glad that I didn't do something irreversible like opening a can of film.

Thanks, from a little less desperate men
