Please Help GH1 Or ?

Hello

I been looking in to buying a Canon Mark ii with
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro DF Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS &
Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Autofocus Lens

That is going to run me around 4k my full budget

I have been looking at the mark ii for 2 weeks so i seen every video & reviews.

I just found out about the GH1 a few days ago and what I have see I love the look also.

But what I have read is that If I buy a new GH1 there is no hack for it
Also how do the lens work do I need a red rock type of adapter this is what am trying to get away from it took to much time with my hvx200 to set up & never liked the look.

Also every one seem to use FD cannon lens they seem very cheap how will they compare to canon ef 50mm f1.2
Why is there such a price differance?

what am looking to shot is a TV pilot a show kind of like HBO entourage.

what would you guys do?
 
Find a hackable GH1

Check out the serial number thread in the main firmware hack forum. This will tell you what the serial numbers mean in relation to hackability. You can then check brand new GH1s for hackability without opening the box
 
The Canon FD lens are cheap but that doesn't mean they're crappy. The reason they're so cheap is because Canon FD lenses were one of the top lenses back in the 70's and/or 80's but became obsolete when other lenses superceded them like EF. They were going for dirt on the market because they were no longer used, however with the advent of GH1 now they are usable with an adaptor and that's the reason you're able to still find them super cheap.
