You probably have heard this question a 1000000 times, so please be patient with me. I'm just gonna ask very simple stuff.

If i shoot on 24p :

- What capture settings do I use in FCP, 29.97, 23, 24???
- What should be my editing timebase, 29.97, 23, 24???
- When I export, should it be as 29.97 or 24fps?? Please state the case for Quicktime Movie and DVD

last and thanks a lot again ....
If Shooting in 24p Advance:

Why would I shoot on 24p Advance?? If im gonna do a film transfer? what other reason?

- what are the capture settings and editting timebase?
- what about exporting?

Thank you very very very very much for your help guys, I hope I am not a boder.

Yep. The SEARCH tool would reveal all of these answers.

Check out the FCP forum. There is a sticky that answers this.

Do a search, Barry has answered this many times, and the sticky in the FCP forum answers this as well.

As for exporting to a quicktime file, you're going to want to use compressor. As for the settings you can start with one of the defaults and play with it from there. Your specific settings will depend on your footage, if there is a lot of movement, graphics, etc. The less movement, the more you can compress it and keep it looking good. Unfortunately there is not a one size fits all when it comes to compression. But the defaults are a good place to start.

Hey, I just did a search on 24p and 24pa, and it seams to be more difficult then I thought. I would highly recommend getting Barry's Book, it will help you out a lot with many of the basic questions regarding your DVX.

ScotDVX.....man you don't know how much I appreciate your help....that page was great with the simple answers I needed.....
