Playstation 3...........WOW!

Ya, im a nintendo fan boy through and through and would gladly blow my 360 up and PS3 if i had one right now to get a Wii. I have a bad feeling that will be very difficult to find as well. Even with 1million available at launch, the price point is going to draw it as a perfect x-mas gift for the uninformed casual customer. They will be in very short supply. I beleive there were 1.5 million 360's available through Xmas and those were nearly impossible to come by after launch.
 
Yeah, finding a Wii may be hard on launch day. Best Buys (at least the more popular ones) are slated to get 120 on launch day--Targets, Wal-Marts, etc.,should be getting at least 50. I wasn't able to pre-order, so I'm holding out hope.
 
What's the deal with having any of these consoles right when they are released? Some people take these events way to seriously...
 
Life is short, and games (some) are real works of art.

It is NOT worth it to pay 1500 bucks for a PS3, but for me it is worth the work to have one when it comes out. YOu only live once and when i enjoy something i am not going to deny myself of having it for no reason.
 
yeah, I totally agree with all of this. In fact, I just sold my daughter to a chinese gang to raise money for a $5000 pre-order ticket for a PS3. My wife, she is mad at me but I don't care! I will be playing Zelda years before most others! I will definitely be further along in the game than most.

What? The pre-orders are only a couple months ahead of everyone else?!...

I think I'll wait till PS4 comes out, by then looking at what current CG renders are able to do the level of photerealism is simply mind blowing, I rencently saw a clip over at CGtalk and, I've been showing it to almost everyone and NOT a single person had ANY idea that it was CGI, (granted he used Matchmove to produce the "shaky cam" motion) but when I told them it did not exist, some people just refused to believe it untill I showed them the wires. Now of course it took over 9 hourse to render a single frame, true but with next-next (4th gen) harware that should be real time.

finally by then we should see games like you have never seen them.

oh man, you are soooo screwed. Zelda is a Wii title, not PS3! your wifey is going to be sooooo pissed.
 
I just grabbed one off of ebay. They are only going for about 200 more than retail now. I laugh at all the campers who got them on ebay now. People are still setting their buy it now price at like 1500, and no one is buying, i watch tons of them go un sold. they gotta pay those fees too. its great.

I think the prices will go back up though by Xmas because of gifts of course. but also alot of people , i think, will say screw it once they realize their 40 hour camping trip in front of target isnt going to profit more than 100 to 200 bucks not including the ebay and paypal fees, so they will open it and keep it, that will take alot of them off ebay driving supply down again.

I agree. I can't take a brand new gaming system in 2006 (almost 2007) seriously if it can't support even basic 720 HD. Plus, considering the new Zelda is being released for the Gamecube as well, you don't even have the advantage of exclusive titles for the new console (which has traditionally been Nintendo's ace in the hole). I've looked at all three and none of them really blow me away. The Wii is extremely underwhelming and the PS3 is ridiculously expensive. Maybe the 360 will grab me when Halo 3 comes out sometime next decade...
 
xbox 360 is the Perfect console not to cheap not to expensive. Not only standard defintion games but not 1080p either. Not $250 but not $600 either. Tons of games and you can even develop games for xbox/pc on your own and make money. This is the gaming system of the people. How many times have you played a game and said they should have did this or that.
It doesn't tie you in to a certain hd format like blueray or hd dvd. Plus you can download hd movies. If blueray wins then xbox 360 can make an external blueray drive. Remember DVD-Audio or Super Audio CD. Well those formats were supposed to kill regular music cds. What about UMD? that is the psp video format. Sony needs to slowdown on these formats a spend more time on fixing batteries!
 
i threw my 360 away. i only owned one game on it and well it wasnt worth it... the ps3 is way worth it.

And could you clarify that? First I know you didn't throw it away. Second well worth it might be a little over kill. I can almost agree its price reflects its technology.
Second, Why only one game. You could even download games and you could only find one. I bet you'll probably only own 1 game on the PS3 also. At $600 that is crazy. The price however is acurate considering supply and demand. Same thing with Bentley cars. PS3 is not for the average gamer. It requires a high entrance fee that most gamers are not willing to pay.
 
not really its got everything i need plus blue ray i got 3 games for it and waiting for another in decemeber. i did throw it to my brother though he plans on plaing it but we both sis like it. ps3 won being the better mutli unit being a blu ray player and the games are grat. and they are only first gen games. there is no game on 360 worth getting beisides two and that doesnt make it greatest system ever. it failed to what i needed it too do.
 
I'm an avid gamer miself. Having seen ther PS3 next to the XBox, I wasn't really impressed. I saw Rdge Racer 7 right next to Ridge Racer 6, and while RR7 had a little bit more color, it wasn't that much impressive graphically. Gundam was Okay, with great mech renditions, but the backgrounds where okayish. Just bought Tes Drive Unlimited for XBOX 360, and am having a blast on that game.

I'm of course waiting for Winning Eleven for Xbox- Fifa 07 was terrible.

Back to Ps3, saw some avc encodec Blu-ray videos. Incredible how we criticize film noise in HD cameras, and when I saw Behind Enemy Lines DVD, we see how film is a lot more noisy than ANY HD camera.

The best encoded AVC video so far, from what I could see on the trailers in that BLU-RAY, should be the Transporter 2. It looks amazing.

I'm planning on buying the PS3 in December. And the wii, to take back to europe to play with my niece and nephew.
