Playmemories Remote App For Gimbal Work

Anybody use the Play-memories remote app on their phone as a monitor for gimbal work? I got my Ronin-M in this week and downloaded the app last night. Seems like it would work ok just wondered how consistent it was.
 
I'd also like to use it for remote viewing, since the A7s doesn't have an articulating monitor but its biggest weakness is that it doesn't work with SLog2.

Yeah, it works only with PPs disabled...that's a bummer...let's hope Sony will update the fw/app behavior... ;)
 
On that related note, I love my A7s but have found the lack of quality software updates from Sony very disappointing.
 
Hey Guys, Does the playmemories remote start and stop recording on the A7s? Can't seem to find any certain info on this online.
 
Yes it will monitor and stop/start, but with somewhat limited functionality. PP-off only and custom presets don't work.
 
Thanks NYVZ! I guess if I could change exposure settings in manual (movie) mode then I won't have to take it off the gimbal to change settings.

I've tried it with a gimbal for exactly this reason, but it didn't work out great. Too laggy, crappy uncalibrated phone screen (less of an issue depending what model you have), and the PP-off and limited functionality issues others have mentioned.

Real pity particularly given it's wireless.
 
Mounted my Shogun to the Ronin M. it plays as my monitor and Rec button,since i'm using EF glass i'm considering getting a sony lens for some basic live auto focus for when i don't have a focus puller, i tried it with the 16-35 Vario-Tessar and eventhough it wasn't super fast it did track focus on a moving subject while at 2.8- 4 split which i found impressive [h=1][/h]
