Playing Back the last take

Hello, THis may seem elemental, but when you've shot a take and want to review it, how do you set the DVX100A to rewind to just that take and not go all the way to the first?
Thanks Craig

Re: Playing Back the last take

Have a vcr hooked up to your monitor and record your take to a vhs so that you can playback on the vcr.

Re: Playing Back the last take

Or use DV rack...I am sure there is a way to do it in camera, I'm just not sure what it is. I know DV Rack does a wonderful job though.

Re: Playing Back the last take

You can use the "index" feature to do that. Press the index button at the beginning of your take (or, if you have a DVX100A, you'll have to assign the "index" feature to one of your user buttons, and press that at the beginning of your take). Then when you want to review, switch to VCR mode, and do an "index search" backwards. It should take you right to the beginning of your take.

Re: Playing Back the last take

Hey again! Ok, I got it (myDVX100A) to do a reverse search doing what Barry said: you'll have to assign the "index" feature to one of your user buttons, and press that at the beginning of your take). Then when you want to review, switch to VCR mode, and do an "index search" backwards. It should take you right to the beginning of your take.

But it seems weird that I had to use the remote to do it (there's buttons marked "index" on the remote. Is there a way to do the same search on the camera instead of the remote?
Thanks again - Craig

Re: Playing Back the last take

Like Barry said, you have to assign one of the 3 user assignable buttons to be your "index" button.

Re: Playing Back the last take - clarification

Yeah, I got it to work:
Setting one of the user buttons as the index button and pressing it before the take. Then, after the take, put the camera on VCR and press the "index <<" button on the remote. It takes you right to the spot,
BUT!... can you do this on the camera without the remote?

It seems like you should be able to do this on the camera.
