It's not the inputs at all. It's the panels themselves. There is no standard for color matching for devices like consumer TVs and monitors. A professional video monitor generally has some degree of guaranteed performance but not the consumer stuff. Just like cameras, the designer doesn't care much about a consumer's camera performance meeting professional specifications. All that matters is that it's "good enough" and that consumers like it.
