Playing 24p MiniDV's in ordinary camcorders

Hi. Forgive me if I'm a newbie. But I bought my ag-dvx100a...and I'm reluctant to use it too heavily as a deck. I planned on buying a cheapo second-hand minidv camcorder to use as my deck. And then a guy told me that such camcorders won't play back my 24p MiniDV footage (because the cheapo camcorders don't shoot in 24p).

Is he right?

Any comments? Clarifications?

Does this have any adverse effect on your tapes? I've heard that you should only use one brand of tape and stick to it. Well, if you put your tapes that were shot in the DVX100 into a cheap handicam does it make the tapes dirty or anything? Just curious because I just bought my DVX100A and I've also got a little Sony TRV-19 that I'd use as a deck if I can. Any advice on this would be great. Thanks.
