GH4 Playback to Lilliput Monitor?

I just bought a Lilliput 663/O/P expecting I would be able to use it for monitoring image and sharpness before and during recording as well as playback from the camera. I am shooting in 4k and it appears that the down convert to 1080I disables the cameras LCD screen and prevents me from controlling playback of footage. Is this true or am I missing some setting?

Also, the monitor seems super sensitive to any movement of the micro-hdmi cable where it plugs into the camera which will cause it to lose signal. Is this common?
