playback problem, urgent!

I posted this last night in preparation for this morning and when i came to check for replies it wasn't here!

anyway yesterday was day 2 of 5 and with only 2 shots to go we decided to look at the footage on the external monitor. but when we played it back it was strobing with blue stripes! I turned on the camera, turned it on, still stripes. took out tape, put back in, still stripes. Unplugged everything, some of the footage worked, some had stripes, so we dicided to get another shot, looked at it, and it had stripes.

any idea how to fix this? I don't think its a head problem because sometimes you can see some of the footage fine and sometimes you can't, so it appears to be recording fine. I hope that it's easily fixed and not the tape because we can't reshoot everything we did yesterday without renting the house we're shooting in another week.

try switching tapes or do something to clean the heads...or just turn it off, pop the tape door and let it sit in a clean place for a while

it sounds like either dirty heads or some kinda temperature/condensation prombelm to me - i've had it happen before when i was shooting in the snow - switched tapes and i was all good

Try to fast forward the tape until you get to the end, then rewind it back to the beginning tape. This probably sounds really stupid, but I've had a problem very similar, and it worked.


Have you imported the footage in yet? Do a few sec. first, then start with the problem solving.
