I am trying to hook up an HVX to a hd tv and playback my footage in HD. What kind of cables do I need to do this? If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.
Your HVX should have come with an HDMI to component RCA cable (red. green and blue plugs). Just plug into the component (red, green and blue RCA Plug-ins) inputs on your HDTV from the HDMI port on the camcorder.
Also, you might want to make sure that you set the component output to 1080 in the camera's menu.
sorry ..... ya it's not HDMI. I don't know what I was thinking.
I think you can leave it at 1080 to view 720 shots but I am not positive about that. I know that if you set the output resolution to 720 you will not get the full benifit/resolution when viewing 1080 however.
p64 is about tape playback.
Try p 112
"The signals recorded in the 720p format are cross-converted only when 1080i signals are to be output. In all other cases, they are output without being converted."
I was referring to pg. 64 in the PDF version. Maybe we're talking apples & oranges here, or maybe a firmware difference, but when I am in P2/MCR mode and select clips from the LCD screen, I can omly playback clips that are the same record mode as the camera is set. The other clips will not play until I change the record mode. You may be talking about some other playback mode.
