Playback getting "stuck"

When I play back my footage the playback gets "stuck" at a certain point in the timecode which just so happens to be the same spots where i stopped recording and turned the camera off. is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future?

Re: Playback getting "stuck"

... im going to take an educated guess at this one. its strange, but if you stop recording with the cam, and you play the tape back to wtach your footage, you will watch it untill the end of the footage and the timecode just sits there right? but! the tape is actually still playing. the camera dosent automatically stop playing at the end of the timecode. so the cam continues to play over blank tape, and just holds that last timecode number there. then when you eventually hit stop, or switch back to cam mode, the cam will stop playing , but still keep the last timecode # up and when you record, it will start recording from that last timcode # , but there will be a spot of blank tape in between the last frame of the last recording, and the new recording. now when you import this into your nle, it looks like the tape is just sitting there on that timecode # . and it is! but! the tape is still playing again, and when the tape reaches the next timcode# it will start running the timecode again, and the nle will record the next frames just as if there was no gap in them at all. so it dosent make a difference to the actuall captured footage, but its a waste of tape for sure. to have alot of blank wasted tape between your takes, also when capturing on your nle be sure to stop the tape as soon as you are done capturing, cause it can keep playing it too, and hold the last timecode #. i figured out why this was happening to me one day when i had a total of 43 or some minutes of timecode on a 60 min tape and the tape was done. then i realized that there were these long blank spots when the timecode was held, but no footage, and i realized it only was happening on takes when i reviewed the footage, or imported. so you just need to be sure you stop the tape right after reviewing it. or you will have however long you let it sit there and play, of blank tape with the same timecode # . whenyou import into your nle, and it seems to be "stuck" look at your tape mech in the cam, and you will see it is still playing. when it reaches the next recording with the next timcode # it will start to record again. and again, your nle doesnt record any frames without timecode, so your capture wont have the blank spot. hope this helps. to be sure you could always stop the tape right away, and then hit the record check button to have the cam go back through the last 2 secs, and then stop at the last timcode # . the cam will actually stop there then, just not when you hit play. ..then you need to hit stop. all in all i was happy that it at least holds the timcode # there, otherwise youd have a ton of timcode breaks, which are a total pain.
