Planning to Buy the HVX200

when you start talking "future proof" which is a phrase I hate... you are talking 1080P, not 720P. Funny to me how HD zealots do all this talking and only shoot in 720P, a format which will be 100% dead very soon. I shoot 720P, not for future proofing but to save space and match Vari footage.

Actually, I feel a lot more frustrated with 1080i since 1080p is eventually going to be the standard and rushing 1080i out the door just seems like TV and camera makers wanting to make a quick buck even though they knew the technology wouldn't last.

Anyway, yeah 720p isn't completely future proof but niether is 1080p. How do we know that higher resolutions won't come out just around the time America is really finally ready to make the switch to HD. It's all a gray area. 720p will be less usefull as time goes on but it'll last longer than 480i.
