Planning a shoot w/5d mixed to Ex1 - workflow

Hey,

Got a shoot coming up w/the 5d as A cam, though will have my Ex1 as a B cam. I'm wondering of the best way to shoot/edit to ensure max compatibility.

The obvious is to set the Ex1 to 30p aka 29.97fps, to most closely match the 5d's 30fps.

However beyond that what's the best workflow?

It's a music video so the audio needs to be the studio version of the track, at the correct speed.

What's the best solution therefore workflow wise, that firstly lets me mix both cameras and doesn't require me losing sync or having to speed the song. Will it even make a difference with the 5d footage b/c it'll be cutting before it goes out of sync? (max 10 seconds per cut I'd imagine) etc.

I know of solutions which require increasing the audio speed, but that's not an option here and I also want compatibility w/the ex1 footage so I'm unsure exactly the way to do things and thought I'd find out BEFORE the shoot heh!

When I was 5d as A cam I used the Ex1 on 30p too

Now Im 7d I have that and the EX1 on 25p and only use the 5d where a little mild slomo wont matter - steadicam running - 14mm master shots

If you have to do a retime from 30p to 24/5p it is best to finish you work in 30p and then set to retime with compressor (best) and walk away from the compter for a day or two

Aye I'm defo down for converting to 25p after the final edit.

However, what would you suggest about the 30 fps and 29.97 fps ex1 footage?

Just ignore it b/c it's not gonna make a huge diff on a music promo w/cutting, set up fcp for the 30fps easy setup and forget about it. OR should I convert one to the other, say during the pr422 conversion process?
