I can't imagine the production costs for this series. Just that incredible shot in "pole to pole" where they had the season shift from winter to summer in time lapse.....your talking about a period over 3-4 months...to have a camera rolling for that long
The lenses alone... to film this must have cost upwards of $100,000.

They zoom in SO close! The cineflex as ben-s mentioned is amazing.

My mom keeps going "HOW DID THEY GET THESE SHOTS?!?!"
pretty histerical.

I realize this thread is nearly a year old - but I'm sitting here watching the 'Caves' episode right now... and my god this footage is absolutely amazing.

My wife and I just got the series on DVD recently, never having seen it.
I actually thought it was going to suck in SD.
I can't even imagine what it looks like in HD.... as it is it's one of the best photographed things I've ever seen.

Amazing.

I bought the entire series on DVD for 10.00 unopened at the Thrift Store but I haven't opened it yet.

o_O; I guess I should?

Caves is absolutely amazing... so is Deserts and Ice Worlds..

a hell.. the whole damn thing is awesome.

It should be viewed in HD.. no less.. stunning work.

I've only watched it on a 720p monitor and definitely would make it one of my first Blu-ray purchases if [when] I buy a player. Awesome photography.

yea watching it in hd your eyes wanna explode. and also, whats interesting is that you cant really tell whats shot 720p and whats 1080p.... you only learn after the fact.... when watching the making of dvd. youd be surprised....
