PL to Nikon F adapter?

focal flange distance is 52mm on PL, 46.5mm on Nikon F, so that's not the problem - and hitting the mirror will be a problem, but not any more than on the canons, I guess - throat is a lot narrower on Nikon F when compared with Canon EF (44mm vs 54mm); I think PL throat is 54mm, so that could be the problem - no idea how KCW is trying to solve it, or if the adapter will only work with lenses where the bit that goes into the camera is "not too thick"

I got hit by malware immediately after connecting to that link. Not 100% sure it was that site to blame but the only other sites I had open was this one and ebay. It was the S.M.A.R.T. HDD trojan malware and I've spent the last hour cleaning my laptop. Here is the link on how to fix it:

It will tell you that your HDD has problems and make it appear like you have lost everything. You haven't and following the above instructions will restore all 'missing' data. You will probably need to use recycle bin (the only remaining icon) to access explorer in order to delete the necessary files and many folders and files will appear to be missing but if you type them into the explorer bar you will be able to access them. This is one of the sneakiest, most underhanded viruses I've ever come across and it totally got passed 3 different virus protections including spybot S&D. Almost fooled me since this is a work laptop and IT are always messing with it so I can't know what is or isn't on my laptop at any given time. Luckily I'm a suspicious bastard and found something amiss in Task Manager!

It is possible to make a Nikon to PL adapter, but not the other way around. Although both lens mounts are on the longer side of flange depth, the PL is deeper, thus to make a Nikon mount into a PL mount, you add the mount and the distance needed. However the other way around would require the Nikon mount to be located within the PL mount. A removable mount system, like the one the Red Epic uses, solves this issue as it does not adapt one mount to another, but rather just replaces the mount altogether.

Putting a Nikon lens onto a nikon mount that is recessed into a PL mount is not possible, the lens is too big to sink that far inside. On my desk, right here, I have a Nikon mount I removed from a Nikon lens and I have a PL mount.

I placed the nikon mount (from a lens) inside the PL mount and it is barely small enough to fit past the PL mount collar and has no chance of getting past the shelf the PL flange sits against. For good measure, I then sat a Nikon lens into the PL mount. The PL mount would not allow it to get deep enough for prober flange distance, but even then you can see the girth of the lens would make it impossible to do so, even if the mount was small enought, which it's not. I guess if you have skinny Nikon lenses, it would work, but those don't exist. The answer is no. :).

Adapters work best when going from a shorter flange to a deeper one, not so much the other way around.
