Pixels

Ok, I know the HVX has just over 2 million pixels, and the RED has 12 million. What about the HVX with Hydra?

I think the over 2 million pixels is the HVX CCD unprocessed, however, after extracting a 1080 or 720 image, it results with about 1.4 million for 1080 (effectively 1280x1080 for 24p HVX), less for 720. The real benefit of using Hydra is it is uncompressed and the bit depth of the image, up to 14bit. You get a lot more colours and greyscale steps. Greyscale: 8-bit = 256 steps, 10-bit = 1024, etc. The DVCProHD encoding is 8bit and compressed.
