pixelated footage - bad settings?

Ok, so I am relatively new to the DVX.. only had it for a couple weeks. I have been having trouble with pixelated looking footage - I have tried deinterlacing the footage, but that doesn't seem to help.

Most of the indoor footage I have shot came out ok - it is the outdoor footage that isn't looking as good. Below is a short clip of some footage I shot:

Here are the settings I used:

detail -4
chroma 0
chroma phase+3
color temp 0
master ped -5
iris level 0
gama - cine like
skin tone dtl - on
matrix - cine like
v detail - thin
progressive - off

Can I adjust the settings for better quality? At the time I thought I was filming in 24P, but after going through the settings - it seems that progressive was off.. could this be the problem??

That doesn't look like any DVX footage I have ever seen. Are you sure you are capturing it right and exporting/previewing at maximum quality?

captured it into FCP at full quality.. some of the footage I shot turned out okay, but that one scene in particular was really bad.. could have been that I had the iris open too much?

Ok... Everything I film is looking very grainy unless I turn the detail down pretty low, like -7. Is this normal? Is there some other setting I am missing that is causing everything to look pixelated?? can anyone help me?

Looks more like edge stair-stepping than pixelation to me. Do you have Barry Green's book?

No, I don't have Barry Green's book.. I bought the camera used and did not get the book with it unfortunately..

I missed around with the settings and was able to get some pretty good footage - still not as crisp as some of the footage I have seen on here though.
