GH4 PIX_E5 not getting HDMI signal

I've recently acquired a Pix-E5 which I'm trying to use with my GH4. It works with the HPX170 over SDI, but on the GH4 there's no image and there's a small message that says "In: HDMI no input detected." I've tried it with 2 different HDMI cords, loaded firmware 2.4 and made sure I've got it connected to the correct input. I've tried various Rec Format and Rec Quality settings in the menu and turned on the HDMI trigger. My guess is the HDMI output on the GH4 is defective (I've never used the HDMI out before, so it may have never worked). I don't suppose there's some setting I've missed somewhere?

Did you contact them yet? See if you see anything if you switch the gh4 off from 24hz and see if that works.

If you have another monitor or TV with an HDMI input that you can connect the GH4 to, you might try that and see if you can get a signal there.

There are quite a few different HDMI output options on the GH4 (8-bit vs. 10-bit, plus all the different resolutions: 1080p, Ultra HD, 4K and frame rate options: 24, 30, 50, 60).
But, I have gotten the PIX-E5 to work with most of these signals, and don't remember having to do anything too special or use any particular setting to get things to work.

There is also setup guide from Video Devices for getting a 4K signal from the GH4 into the PIX-E recorders if you are interested in that:

I have 10 bit 422 output to PIX-E5 working from both the GH4 mini port and the YAGH. The record trigger is only working on the mini port and the timecode is not received via either connection method. I followed the instructions on the doc referenced in prior post. This is the cable I used on the GH4 connection http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016P8APAK . VD says they haven't tested the YAGH so no telling if that will ever be addressed.

Let me know how I can help. I have the same setup. Do you have the HDMI plugged into the HDMI input port on the PIXE5 right? Do you have the proper setting enabled in the menus on the PIXE5 and on the GH4?

Setting up HDMI Recording Output
Properly setting up HDMI recording output requires adjustments to multiple video settings.
To set up HDMI recording output:
  1. Press the MENU/SET button on the camera.
  2. Select Movie > 4 > HDMI Rec Output
  3. Set Bit Mode:
    • 4:2:2 8-bit allows internal recording
    • 4:2:2 10-bit does not allow internal recording, but gives greater bit depth for external
      recording
  4. Set Info Display to OFF for clean feed or ON to show status and menu information on the HDMI
    output.
  5. Set 4K Down Convert to OFF to force HDMI to output 4K or AUTO to output 4K if the receiving device
signals that it can accept 4K. Otherwise, it outputs 1080p, which forces down-conversion to 1080p.
