PIX-E recorders

the pix 240 screwed up one of my shoots majorly - weird split screen crap - also heavy and power hungry. My faith is in the Odyssey 7Q+ - 15 shoots now - no issues

I had one of their recorders, the 702, screw up as well and in a couple different ways including level LED's going out and coming back on a week later. They were great in dealing with fixing it but I got that feeling afterwards that the physical build quality might be their strongest point. I also noticed, and might be wrong, but their SDI is HD only?? So a professional that wants 4K has to use a consumer grade HDMI connector for 4K?

also again going cheap on media for 4k recording is not the smartest - if they do use crappy ssd drives - will wait and see once it comes out - also of course the 6 months of firmware updates until the product is stable enough to be trusted for shoots

4K HDMI in a smaller package than the O7Q+ and Shogun. Perfect for A7s and similar users.

Depends on price, if it's priced right i'd have one of those E5s

O7Q for RAW recording and high speed, but data rates for UHD ProRes aren't the same as RAW.

cheers
Paul

Really, what I'm waiting for is a SDI field video recorder that offers a Software Dev Kit. Hopefully 3G-SDI or better.
