PIX and 109% issue

Hey,

Was trying to read up on this in the original “I got a F35” thread, but it got very confusing after a while.

From what I understood a lot of the recorders taking 12-bit could not save the full data but clipped past 100%

Specifically the PIX-E5 for me. Now I don't own the 7Q anymore so I can't test them next to each other but I was hoping there would be a used that might be able to out.

I am writing this here to make you see this :D

Sorry, there is no tagging function Birnbaum!

It should work, the ki pro quad is another unanswered mystery that should be able to handle the 12-bit. Best way to find out is to test for yourself.

You also could create a custom SLOG setting with all the same except Squish it into 100 range. You might loose a little dynamic range but the F35 is all about the preserving the full highlight roll off.

I also get clipping at 100% ire with 12 bit dpx or 444 prores on the 7q+. I was trying to find in the old threads what was said about that but it's very difficult to find anything with the search parameters of DVXuser. Can someone tell me where I could find that particular conversation?

QuiPro Quad is a great option if it works.someone buy that sucker and test it. Can’t always be me. LOL

So the codex-M should cover 109% then though?

I'm happy I found this post because i've been wanting to find a similar recording solution. The monitor/recorder combos are ideal but has anyone got a review on this?

Appears to be of the same era, but I can't identify the I/O cable needed to plug into the DIT's computer.

I searched ebay just now for all the products mentioned here but found that the Codex M and Ki Pro quad are scarce these days, and this Astro Design unit has remained on ebay for a while without changing price. Thoughts?
