I was working a two camera gig with a guy that has 2 pix 240's. I have the AJA mini, but I thought that you guys that have the 240 might want to know of this issue we had.
For some reason on one of the Pix's we lost all timecode reading and display info on the one unit. The internal clock would run and change digits normally when displayed in the world clock info display, in menu. But on the display rec screen we only had 00:00:00:00. It would not show any reading of timecode from SDI or from LTC on TC in. And would not sync with world clock.
The units were on AC always and had worked fine for one day then on second day after being on for half the day it happened. Tried everything in the book to try to fix. Recordings just started at zero every time we checked. Luckily we were nearing end of shoot, and had a option to record tape. Also no heat issue, cold room.
Come back next morning power up units and low and behold all is working fine, timecode reader was working, on the one unit.
So it looks like, the extended power down brought it back. It says in the manual that timecode clock will loose sync after, more than a 4 hour power down.
To be fair we called SD and tried everything they said and no go. They had not heard of this problem before and seemed very rare to them.
May have just been, a very rare issue, but if it happens to anyone here. Try an extended power down.
Also if this makes any difference? The one unit with the problem, did not have the aluminum plate at bottom with (3) 1/4 20 for mounting. Guess they added that latter at some point.
Any who, probably nothing but I thought I would be specific...
