Picture Profile for REC709

This may have been asked but with my FS700/7q setup i usually shoot SLog for clients. But not all are happy with the post production that comes with it. Most just want a quick grade and export. So what REC709 Profiles are people using? Not sure on ideal settings. The REC709 (800%) is way too noisy for me. Dont use it.

There is no real answer to that . Everyone has different task and preferences under different circumstances. You need to do a comprehensive test with all the Default Profiles. After that you can have a play with the setting inside the Profile you like .

If you record 10bit ProRes on the 7Q no profile settings of the camera except the gamma affects your recording. No settings at knee, color, details etc. It's the same for sLog2, Rec709 and REC709(800%). REC709 is not suitable imho. The highlights are clipping and the shadows are crushing very fast, it has still magenta edges at the highlights.

If you switch to SDI HD you can record a ProRes identical to your internal settings with all available picture profiles. Its still 8bit in a 10bit container and there is no visual difference to the AVCHD files (imho)
