GH2 Picture Day - a feature film premiering at TIFF 2012!

Looked good - what made you decide to shoot this with GH2's??

Thanks HVX. The DP and I tested a handful of cameras and when the director, producers and DP saw the GH2 was more than capable/affordable, they went with that and opted to put the saved money in front of the camera.

Great! What was the post work flow?
What kind of release will this be?
Thanks again

As far as I know it was transcoded to prores for editorial, not sure how it was handled by technicolor though.

I imagine they've got their fingers crossed for any kind of theatrical run and then dvd/blu/on-demand.
The TV rights were pre-sold.

This looks amazing Ryan, and congratulations on the TIFF selection! I would have loved to see this in its premiere. From what I am seeing so far, the acting looks so natural and of course, the cinematography is beautiful. Please keep us updated on when and where it will eventually be distributed ;)

I wish people would pay more attention to the actual films the GH2 produces and especially acknowledge the people who are behind and in front of the camera instead of worrying so much about pixel-peeping.

Hey folks!

Just wanted to give a little update on the film!
The film has played lots of festivals and has got some great reviews.

For any GTA peeps out there, Picture Day is now playing a one week engagement at the Light Box.
I attended the opening this past Friday and the GH2 footage looks great up on their screens.

Also, the film is out on DVD, itunes and on demand.

Here's the new official trailer:

And a BTS look at the film:

Thanks for looking!

Amazing! I really like the look of it, but besides that, this once again shows, a movie is more than a sensor in a camera;)
I´m not one of the "story is king" people, because I do appreciate great images and even a good plot can be ruined by bad actors, bad location, bad audio, bad directing...
Anyways, really hope this makes it over to Europe, the geek in me still wants it seen projected.

PS: FREAKS AND GEEKS FOREVER.
;)
