Picture Control Utility AND RGB channels

So I've just spent a few hours learning how to create custom curves using:

  • Picture Control Utility
  • Capture NX 2 (trial)
I followed these instructions:

Sure it is possible. Create your custom curve in NX, highlight the Levels & Curves step. Go to "Batch > Save Adjustments, make sure only the levels & curves step is highlighted, save it with a unique name, note in the save dialog where it is being saved. Exit NX, open ViewNX, open the Picture Control Utility, select the Neutral Picture Control, or which ever one you wish to use as the base of your new picture control, select "use custom curve", click the load button, browse to where your custom curve was saved, select it and click open. Now create a new picture control and load into your camera.
I was successful in creating a new custom curve and exporting to my camera's card via a usb card reader. It loaded from card to camera fine too.

However, I've noticed a limitation that the RGB values of the Levels & Curve Adjustment (made in Capture NX 2) are not imported successfully into Picture Control Utility.

My question is: CAN PICTURE CONTROL UTILITY ONLY CREATE CUSTOM CURVES BASED ON TONE COMPENSATION (i.e. contrast) AND NOT COLOR (i.e. RGB channel curve adjustments done in Capture NX 2)?

Has anyone been able to change the way RGB channels are affected by curves in their D90 picture controls?

Thanks,
DanDOF

afaik yes

I smell sarcasm... or just brutal honesty, hmmph. I was just thinking "wouldn't it be great to get a cross-processing effect applied as a preset in-camera".

Is there an alternative program to Picture Control Utility, something that can save RGB curves into a .NCP file?
