Picture & Audio Glitch/Dropout?

I am using a DVX100B with MQ tape stock. Have seen the odd picture dropout occasionally, but never audio and video simultaneously. I have been doing some tests lately (maybe 5 hours worth) and all the footage has been clean so far.

Just wondering if anyone had seen anything like this and if it is just an anomaly or something I need to worry about.

Attached is a picture to better illustrate the exact issue I'm having.

Thanks

It is highly likely that the dropouts are being created during your capture process.

Video frame dropouts should be visible. Play the tape back at that spot IN the DVX and see if you see the dropout.

Any tape based dropouts are usually a LOT more ugly than capture dropouts.

I played it back and the glitch was on the tape. I rolled over that part of the tape and it was clean, so I suspect that the error was not inherent to the tape but rather from the camera.

I ran a cleaner through it and then shot about 4 more hours of footage and scanned through it and didn't see any glitches.

I've never seen a strange glitch like that, so I thought I would ask around. The only thing I've seen that is very similar are some of the ocassional digital hits I see on our HDCam SR deck which doesn't usually come from dirty heads.

if ur talking about the right headlight..that is a dirty head dropout. I get that when i go film motocross or rally racing with alot of dust. I manually clean the heads after (tape cleaners are very harsh) and then the cams fine.

the wierd colour beside the left headlight...and along the front bumper also towards the left...that i dont know about.

I think I will have to do a manual cleaning then. Normally I wouldn't think much of it, but the fact that the audio drops out with it every frame for about 9 frames (as shown in the picture on the audio track) makes me wonder if it is more than a dirty head.
