pickups with 100a

Ok, I've been on board a while now but havn't asked any questions. This might be a dumb one but here goes. Me and some friends shot a feature film last year by renting equipment and a crew and using panasonic dvx100a with P+S Technik Mini 35 Digital Adapter.

We're now looking into doing pickups but are out of money. I currently own a sony vx2000 camera and am wondering if this would work for continuity for pickups? I know I won't have depth of field and focus that I had without P+S adaptor but am wondering how possible this is? 90% of the pickup shots are basically lock off shots in close up. Could I manipulate the depth of field on post somehow by rotoscoping forground from background and doing simple blur? Also I've considered doing alot of the shots with greenscreen to match backgrounds of stuff shot last year. Would this work better?
BTW: film is being done at 30fps instead of 24.

Another (probably dumb) question is this. Alot of our shots are out of focus in movie. Don't want to go into blaming anyone but we had our dp doing camera and focus pulling at same time. Is it possible to sharpen up out of focus images or do slight push in's of images for reframing shots without losing quality? Is there a plugin or something I could use to help remove grain or out of focus material?

Thanks in advance to any help I can get on this.

I would rent another DVX (and perhaps a camera op) at a minimum for your pickups. The mini35 isn't as essential, but trying to get the same look out of another camera is going to be nearly impossible.

Regarding the soft focus shots, there isn't too much you can do for them. Depends upon how bad they are and how they are going to be cut with sharper ones. This is a difficult problem. You really need to see these on a proper size screen to judge what you can salvage and what you can't.

Good luck with this one!
