I'm a junior in high school and this is my first serious film. I shot it over the course of a week with my friend who also stars in it. We shot on a DVX-100. I just thought I'd post it and ask for comments and critiques.

Very impressive for a high school work. I think you got a little lost in your story arc ( a common problem for beginners), but honestly ive seen worse. Your depiction of mental illness was pretty good, and overall i liked the performances. Good job on not getting it to cluttered with to many characters.

What did you roll sound with?

What did you use for lighting?

Keep it up.

We mostly did sound with a shotgun mic, except for the second scene. The mic was broken and we had to use the onboard mic. I tried to clean it up in post as best I could. As for lighting, we used only available light. Only had a couple days to shoot and lugging around a light kit really wasn't in the cards...

There is a story in it, so that's already good.

For the sound and booming... booming is not just "haning around" with the mice. :-Dum(DBG):
It's very important to point it at the right direction (who is talking) and to go as close as possible. JUST out of frame is out of frame... people wont see it.

And you don't have to make a 7minutes movie if you can tell it in 3minutes.

It's better to have a short version of 3minutes rather then heaving a "boring" version of 2 hours.

The voices he hears in the class are a good idea...only to bad it's only left side...
and maybe more voices and some reverb would have helped.

I hear a lot of noise reduction in the first scene ? A little to much....
