Photos to Quicktime

When I import photos and put some motion to them in FCP4, I get some wavy lines and basic unstability on some of them. Does it make a difference if they are TIFF or JPEG? Is it the square vs. round pixel thing I see mentioned but don't understand.

Please excuse my ignorance but I am just getting started and it can be frustrating.

First off what size are your pictures. If they are extremly large than they need to be sized down to 720x480. If they are smaller than this then you will have a quality issue. I personally use 32bit Targa files instead of jpeg(just a preference). Next once you have them into FCp make sure you have a monitor or TV hooked up to view the final cut.

I believe you have to soften down the image a bit to get rid of the wavy lines.

In FCP Flicker Filter High
De-Interlace filter and drag onto image
