Photography and Cinema (PNC) Problem

I recently made a purchase with the Photography and Cinema store in pursuit to purchase http://www.photographyandcinema.com/products/atp-anti-twist-plate-for-manfrotto-501pl - anti twist plates, nothing expensive, only $40.

I used Paypal and the order went thru fine and received an email notification that the order received along with a PayPal receipt.

Within 5 minutes, I then received another email from PNC stating my order had been cancelled for 'fraud'. What the f....??

My PP account is verified and I am a genuine customer. I have purchased from these vendors before and never had any issues.

Has anybody else has a similar experience? It is very stressful when all one wants to do is buy something! I have asked them why their dumb over protective system flagged my order when I am in no way committing any crime.

I am sorry but after this experience I can not and will not recommend Photography and Cinema.

I will have to try and find an alternative way of buying the anti-twist plates. I was a big believer in supporting the 'little man', but the little man doesn't want to trade......

Not sure why Cheesycam rates these Chinese vendors so highly if this is how they treat potential consumers. Of to B&H I go.

I don't know this particular company that you're dealing with, but in this day and age, these types of things happen from time-to-time and it's probably not malicious.

I had a similar incident last year when I bought my C300 from my dealer(Abel Cine). I buy a LOT of equipment on my frequent flyer credit card to get the miles, so it's not unusual for charges in excess of $10k-$15K or more to run across it. The 1st attempt to run the charge resulted in the ole "possible fraudulent activity" flag. I went on line and approved it. Take two. Flagged again. Called in to the CC company and approved it on their automated system. Denied again. I called in and verbally, personally spoke with a rep to clear things up. Once again, it was denied. Ended up basically having to have more or less a conference call with the security/loss/fraud department of the card and Abel before the CC company would approve the charge. It took three days… But I bought a $14k lens on eBay six months before with the same card with no other hurdle than logging into my account on-line and verifying the charge was legit when it got flagged the first time.

I once tried to order a printer off of HP's website & my credit card wouldn't go through. I called my credit card & they said they were approving the charge but for some reason HP kept canceling the charger after their approved it.

I called HP, got someone in a call center half way around the world & the best they could tell me is "maybe the order isn't going through because you're ordering if from America."

So I went to Target & bought a Canon printer.

Sometimes things like this happen. Nothing to get too upset over.

Did you try contact PNC? See why their flagged your order? Have you ordered directly from PNC before, or just other sites? Does you shipping & billing address match in PayPal? Have you tried contacting PayPal? How old is your PayPal account?

I kind of think it is good for independent sellers to be cautious about fraud. If they want to stay in business & keep their items cheap, they have to keep overhead low which means making sure they don't lose a products & the cost of shipping criminals. If their system catches 1 innocent customer for every two dozen fraudsters, then it could very well be worth it to inconvenience a customer here & there.

Sonny - Sometimes website builders use standard bits of code to enable PayPal. Sometimes these bits of code just need a bit of a tweek to make them work properly.
From my own personal experience I've come up against the same problem albeit with a different supplier and when I called up the company they rectified it straight away.

PNC may not even know about the problem if they're a small company, I'm sure if you deal with them in a suitable manner and explain everything that's happened all will be right with the world.

My single experience with PNC was great. They shipped quickly & even accepted a return after I missed the window.

I've bought from PNC many times before. No problem with purchase etc. However, I wanted to ask a question about one of their products, and their communication system made it impossible - this was over a year ago, so maybe their system has changed for the better, but that part sure was the pits. Now, on an odd note... the product you opened this thread with, well, I needed that, so I ordered it, based on this thread(!), and it came and there was no problem... just one customer experience.
