Hey guys. Just a question to help out with a decision. What editing software do you use for your photos? I currently own Photoshop elements 3, iphoto, Photostudio & Picture project, which came with the Nikon. Any suggestions? I was messing with iPhoto before, they have a really cool set of tools & looks....Thanks.

I use Capture NX and PS7.0, I know, it's ancient but I don't need all the other bells and whistles. NX handles all my portrait needs.

I use Aperture for simple RAW corrections and Photoshop CS when I want to do more extensive work.

Olympus master 2 to get em sorted then PS7 all the way With photoshop you not only get a great package to work on your Photographs, you also get one outstanding tool for designing graphics. I do all my show designs in PS, for example, here's an image I did a couple of years back using nothing but PS. No clip art, all in Photoshop....PS ROCKS!

Well...Seven years bak LOL...Where does the time go eh?

Umm.. wow Mino. It's not just your photographs that are first rate, that's for sure.

Did you use a tablet for that?

Very nice Minno!
I'm wondering if you could post the original and say what you did?

That's worth hanin' on the wall.

I'll try to come up with some details in the next little while. That was seven years ago, I don't remember them days too horrorshow:) and I don't want to jack Lake films OP, but I'll work on something for you when I get a second....

Well first off the image I posted was the original full size at 600x800. Back then, I never really thought about going to print but rather designing stuff for my desktop wall paper. I have uploaded the PS7 file so you can down load it and check out the layers. The waves were created by drawing 1 pixel white lines then working them into shape with the smudge tool. The distant trees were thin triangle shapes with wind filter applied in both directions as I recall. The birds....Well the funny thing is, the brain will fill in the bird if you get the general shale and color right. If you zoom in on the bird in the ps file, you'll see it's a crude image like you'd find a child drawing. The sun was just layers of circles, degrees of feathering and filling with different opacity settings. San was just colored noise. Clouds were done using PS cloud generate filter then pasting the cloud image into the working file, then changing the perspective and opacity etc. Basically it's one big freaking doodle. The beauty of PS is working in layers because you can experiment using an idea on a layer, if it doesn't work you toast it. Anyway...Here's the link to the 3 and change meg psd.

Cheers!

Since I'm jacking the thread LOL, Here are a couple of others done in PS. They're not that hard to do, they just take practice and patience. Moth was a little more complex because I had to be more technically precise. My point is that PS is an outstanding graphics tool, you just have to spend a few hours pissing around with it until you get a comfort level with the tools. I recommend the Photoshop WOW books, full of inspiration, tips and tricks. Once you learn a few tricks they sort of grow exponentially because if you can use one method here you can use the same method somewhere else melded with a new method you just learned and get a whole new look.
