Phone Fraud.

People are really gullible. Today, while as was at work. All hell broke loose at my house. My sister answered the phone. The phone call came up on the the caller id as "prison", and the person on the other end of the phone explained to my sister that, we a have a body that cannot be identified and they have a cell phone and this (our house) number was on it.
They also said that, they found the phone on a mother of 2 children. (my other sister has two children). And everyone started freaking out, meanwhile the guy on the phone is convincing my sister to type in a number on the phone which was something like 24-100-4232 or something and to call at "Lt.Smith" for more details. My sister didn't realize it's not a phone number obviously. and called it, and now our phone cannot receive incoming calls but the phone number is now forwarded to some black woman in ILLNOIS. (I called the my house from my cell phone to see were it got redirected too). It's called "collect calling fraud". Where they can call collect to the first number, our side says "okay" to the call and than is automatically redirected to another number.

My question is, how are phones that programable?

and in other words
don't listen to bullshit on the phone.

or.. don't have stupid sisters.

Good luck getting everything straightened out. Your phone company should be able to get things right again when you let them know what happened.

An old scam, unfortunatly. It's like those "please click here to verify your bank data" e-mails.

Those 12 little buttons a phone keypad are about the most powerfull buttons in exsistance. (And in my oppion, one of the most impressive inventions ever)

Depending on the order, You can use them to contact almost anyone on the planet, reprogram a switchboard, get time and teperature, send and recive e-mail, and remotly control anything from the teperature in someone's home to security systems to god knows what.
If you know the right numbers to push, you could probably start WW3.. or speak to the pope.
Anytime, anywhere..

- Mikko ...nobody ever calls me.

..Also, look in your Phone book. Chances are that "Call forwarding" is a standard feature avaiable on your phone line and there would be instructions for enabling, and dissabling it in the front of the phone book (along with the other line features like voicemail, caller-ID tools, etc..

It's weird though. the phone company scammed us. We called sprint and they said it'd take a day to fix. yeah.. stupid.

They started calling again, from 5:30 until now. I guess they think we're REALLY stupid. I'm going to pick up next time and ask them for their badge number. hahha.

Next time, you might try answering the phone with an airhorn in your free hand.

Dude, just play around with them and waste their time. I do that with telemarketers. It's pretty fun.

Just pretend you're dumb and give them all this false information. It's fun times.
