Hey everyone, if anyone gets Current TV ( Direct TV and a few other networks, www.current.tv) you can check out a piece i did called "Philadelphia Bike Culture." its a 6 minute documentary that explores a few of the interesting aspects of bikes in philly. Thanks to Gabe Uhr (uhrgl = user name) i had the oppurtiunity to shot a piece for this new network. It played last wednesday night and has been playing here and there over the last few days. You can check the schedule at www.current.tv/schedule to see if it happens to be playing any time soon. here is a screen grab.

hey man, i forget to say that a little later today when i get a chance i'll post a small clip, i cant post the whole thing do to a few reason but i'll put a little taste of it up. Give me a few hours.

okay here are two short clips from the full piece. I had to take out the fun motion graphics that introduced the piece and music so this might seem a bit dry. Basicly the full piece covered three aspects of bikes in philly. One was Reload Messenger Bags, which are hand made custom messenger bags. The second was a group ride called "The Pretzel Ride" where a bunch of guys would get together and go ride to a late night bakery to get hot pretzels. And the thrid was a short bit on Bike Polo. Exactly as it sounds. So here are two clips, they are not full clips of the section.

There was a lot of cool riding shots i wanted to get but i pretty much had to shot everything in two days, and it was pretty much rained the whole time expect for when bike polo went down ( i lucked out on that one ). I filmed the pretzel ride in a pretty steady rain, which sucked. I got soaked but my i was able to keep my camera dry. All in all it took two days to film, and another day or so to edit the whole piece.

I like the look you captured. What did you use for lighting in some of night shots? For example, for the interviews?

HansK, due to the nature of how i filmed this i didnt use any lights. My car die the week before (not that i really drive it at all) so i was pretty much stuck to carrying everything i needed in my backpack on my bike in the rain. It was shot on f5, mostly 1/24 sec shutter wide open. A few of the pretzel ride shots i had to boast the gain becasue i wasnt getting anything at all.

You did a great job capturing the images. They look great.

But, I'm a cyclist so maybe I'm biased. :cheesy:
