Phantom power?

I'm shooting a short commercial this friday and have found a guy with his own equipment (shotgun mic, boom, mixer) to hop on last minute. But I haven't met him yet, so as a back up I was looking for another mic/mixer donation. I got a reply from a friend who has a mic but requires 12volts of phantom power. Does the DVX-100 provide this phantom power? I of course I'm researching this myself, but honestly, this forum has ALWAYS provided an answer to my questions before my web-surfing, manual-flipping can.

Re: Phantom power?

The DVX100 supplies 48 volt phantom power. Not really sure how that effects a mic that needs only 12 volts though. I believe it should be ok.

Re: Phantom power?

Hi!

my AKG shotgun mike also requires phantom power, but according to the manual, the range can be from 9-52 V (according to German Industry Norm DIN 45596).

Please do check with your freind's mike before potentially frying it, but my guess is that phantom power is normally found in professional mikes and therefore most likely have a standard to adhere to. Whether the DIN standard is universal?...dunno. Cheers!
