Hey guys,
Just last month I was accepted, along with 47 other filmmakers from across the globe, to join Werner Herzog deep in the Amazonian jungles of Peru. We were tasked with one goal, to come out alive and with a film. For 12 days we listened and chatted with the legend, scouted locations and came up with ideas. We were all a one person crew, responsible to cast, direct, shoot and edit the film while down in the jungle.
I ended up filming a piece on a 12-year named Gersen, who lives in the jungle city of Puerto Maldonado and his soccer ambitions.
Here's it is. Curious to hear your thoughts and feedback.
Tech wise: this was shot on a Sony Fs7 (worked like a tank in the humidity of the jungle) mostly with a Zeiss 35mm Milvus f/1.4 and a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 V ii and 70-200mm f/2.8 v ii. Since coming back from the jungle I had a friend do a soundpass and a color grade session at The Mill in NYC.
