Perfect Movie Idea

Be sure to have lots of purple Kool Aid.

Seriously, I bet this is some kind of weird mind f**k kind of thing to clog circuits and prevent the rest of us from having creative thoughts.

Girl Popes - is this the death of lap dance?

You gotta clarify on the idea - it sounds like a message movie, and message movies definitely don't work in under six minutes. Trust me, I learned the tough way.

But I'm really not sure what you're getting at with the pope idea. So everyone is a peaceful human being, how could death be considered in the equation? Is this a who-done-it?

It doesn't appear that DVXUSER has ever held a Comedy Fest. That might be cool and your plot idea could very well fit into the comedy genre nicely.

the point was that if everyone 'becomes' the pope, then that presumably includes women, so now half the six billion popes are women, which has interesting theological implications

I won't get into a religious or character debate here, but I would hardly consider the Pope the most peaceful person in the world. Looks can be deceiving. A Zen priest maybe, but not the Pope.

Not to mention the cost of all that silk and gold thread.

What constitutes peaceful can also be subjective. If I have a chunk of land, and my goal is to have peace in this land, but this one nagging village just won't cooperate, so I pulverize them. Is that not an act of peace if the means justify the ends? Some would argue yes.

Okay, so you find the world's most peaceful person - maybe even a plumber or a hairdresser for all that matter, and then make everyone in the world just like them - except yourself of course. Somebody has to tend the flock.

Need to address newborns by the way.

So the original person who was used to create a master race of Ghandis accidentally commits suicide, which in itself is impossible, as suicide is a deliberate act. It would have to be accidental. The rest however can be suicides as they need to follow their leader. Maybe some genetic code was kicked in when they were converted.

What's missing is WHY. What was the point of all this, and what was at stake if it didn't happen when it happened?

Once the mass suicides begin, can it be stopped? Will the person who started all this be the last person on the planet? Talk about a mis-calculation! At least no one is around to point a finger of blame.

What about character flaws? Even the most peaceful person will have a flaw, and all good film gives their main characters a flaw to work against to achieve their goal. Will the flaw manifest in some way, like a deliterius gene? That could be interesting.

The point about women is important to consider. Also, the Pope is Caucasian. Does that mean all the other races will cease to exist? The Pope is Catholic. Does that mean all other religions will cease to exist? What about languages? Will the sick and dying become healthy? Will ten-year-olds become old men?

If the Pope has some yet-to-be-diagnosed illness such as prostate cancer, will everyone have the same fate? That could set up the demise you're looking for.

Here's some food for thought - if the Pope is part of some secret agenda, say to consolidate Vatican power through the control of financial institutions, will the whole planet also be in on the gig? Just as an example.

Anyways, I think you have some things to iron out.

Not sure I would invest time on this idea outside a short.

Also might be a hard sell in story form.

Also agree, I don't think I would use the Pope, as the debate(s) concerning religion would just effect the story and people's ability to enjoy it (even if its a comedy).

Sounds like a pitch for 'The Happening 2: White Smoke' - when the entire population of Vatican City dies (by suicide) during/following a bio-terrorist attack (lv. 4 viral pathogen), bodies are burned in an attempt to curb the outbreak - including the Pope's. As the white smoke (sign of Pope's passing), along with the virus, is released into the atmosphere, strong winds (caused by global warming) carry it to every major city in the world. Billions of people, and animals (especially goats), are not only infected, but are being overcome with a strange, powerful desire to commit suicide in the heart of St. Peter's Square. Only one man in the world is left untouched - John Baptista, a recently divorced atheist and religious history professor in Munich, who was formerly a biochemist for the US military - and he takes it upon himself to get to the root of what exactly is causing the 'mass' suicides. To make matters worse, the weather in central Europe is going out of control, as flash floods, tornadoes, and ice storms ravage the coastal countries. Luckily for John, he encounters another person left uninfected - Mary St. Croix, a spunky nun who moonlighted as a meteorologist for the local university of her hometown. Together, they must find answers to some really wordy questions: Is it really the virus causing people to want to commit suicide, or is it something else, something more...sinister? Can they find a cure for a virus that is pretty much killing off all of the scientists and doctors and researchers that would be needed to develop it, in time to save a school bus full of preschoolers (who, miraculously, remain uninfected) heading towards the Vatican? Does the fact that they are : a) a man who is strictly non-religious and b) a woman who dedicates her entire life to the church, are the only two human beings left unaffected by the virus seem too unlikely to truly have happened by chance? Will they find the cure? Religion? Love?

Narrated by Morgan Freeman.

***My apologies if this is offensive to anybody. It is SIMPLY AN IDEA and, more importantly, a light-hearted attempt at FARCE.:)***
