Pentax K-01 mirrorless with top rated K-5 APS-C sensor and h.264 1080p 30,25,24 720p

Vitaliy_Kiselev who done the GH2 hack is very interested in the K-01 !

His remarks on the hack forum :
Other good thing is $749 MSRP (or 40mm kit $899, so pancake will be really cheap)

Most probably will be good compliment to my Pentax cameras, as I have bunch of Pentax glass.
I think it is cool.

And looking at the specs it support all lenses. So, it'll AF with screwdrive lenses. Without any adapter. Right now Pentax continue famous compatibility.

I really do not care about video much here (but if Pentax will be using same firmware coding as in K-5 it'll be hackable, as my tool supports almost all present Pentax cameras). For me screw drive and, good sensor, good screen are enough. Sony class EVF could be good, but price will be much larger.

It is not small because it uses SLR lenses. And if you ask me it is the best solution for Pentax.

I care about Pentax :-)

Yeah I guess the new Canon 5D MKIII and Nikon D800 are not good for videos since they don't have flip-out LCD and EVF ;)

colors are nice, but again I see some wobble - not what I would expect in 2012
not having a flip-out LCD is another negative to me, though clearly not a dealbreaker
if it had absolutely killer image quality (lots of DR, lots of detail, nice codec), I could get over this, but if not... there are other options in the market now...

Nope :)
Ergonomics and Image quality need to go hand in hand.
Why?
Because the competition has it better and for cheaper.
I have nothing against Pentax, Canon, Panasonic, Sony or Nikon.
I'm just looking at my needs and the facts of the cameras in the marketplace.
So far, the GH2 has all that I need right now and so its on my wishlist.
The Sony A77 came real close, the Pentax K-01 came close as well but ergonomics like LCDs and EVFs are deal breakers for me.
I don't mind size and weight.
Let me ask a question: What is special about the K-01 for you? The PK mount?
If so then I'd understand but if not then I'd like to know what you find unique to your circumstance and needs.

I have a myriad of K-mount lenses and I like the IBIS on the K-01 that works with all of them. It will be a nice companion to my GH2 that has flip out LCD and EVF.

Still waiting for tests if the full ISO range is available in video mode. If it is, that could be amazing for the price point.
