Pelican case for two 2k Blondies?

Hi guys,

Looking to get rid of my massive, metal Arri 2k case (it's over 4' long and weighs almost 20kg by itself!) and replace it with a more streamlined Pelican case, and I was wondering if anyone had recommendation for case models?

It'd need to hold the two Arri Blondies (with barndoors attached), 2x dichroic filters, and a couple of spare globes.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark

I did something similar a few years back, and you know what, it was still too big and heavy. So I ended up milk crating each individual light to make it easier to get on and off the truck.

Cheers David, I'm plenty familiar with the Blondies in milkcrates approach, however my vehicle is a canopied ute (that's a pickup truck for my north american friends), which requires some pretty compact packing, so milkcrates don't really suit it unfortunately.

I couldn't find any sensibly sized Pelican cases, but it looks like the Pelican Storm iM2975 is a near perfect size - has anyone used one for blondies before?

My experience, mail ordering cases in general - check internal measurements, and expect to mess with foam.

In the US, ebay searches for terms like surplus case, military case, roller case, pelican, SKB and checking the "used" button - can find you some deals if you don't mind scuffs or stickers.

A pop rivet gun & a jig saw, some angle brackets and 1/8 plywood can get you a case with custom dividers to fit all sorts of things. I also have gotten black vinyl upholstery fabric or the standard photo bag fabric (cordura) and wrapped it around foam to make cases that don't end up full of torn up foam bits (from exposed pluck foam). There's something immensely satisfying to me about taking an old pelican case and making it perfect inside...
