k. I was being told that when they compared the shots with the two cameras that the pd170 was better both the dvx and pd had settings adjusted to look somewhat the same or at best. and the pd won. also what is better the ntsc version of the dvx or the pal?

well i sold my vx2000 and bought a DVX and could not have made a better decision. IMO the DVX blows the sonys away (except for the low light debate) other than that there are so many little features the DVX has over the Sonys that I couldnt imagine not having them now that i do. The Sonys do create beautiful images but i just like the overall layout and controls the DVX has not to mention the progressive modes. just my 2¢.

yea. I mean vs in the title. but yea someone was telling not to get a dvx but to get a pd170 and I already own a vx2100 and he said that the pd170 blows the dvx out of the water. so I was trying to get some feedback. cause I plan on getting a dvx.

I produced more than 10 professional videos using the PD170 and then I bought the DVX. The DVX colors, separations are so superior compared to the PD, not talking about gamma, image settings and 24P.
ANyway PD170 is a nice camera, but in my opinion DVX is far superior in result and controls.

The vx2100 has the same ccds as the pd170. It's virtually the same camera, minus xlr ports.

The pd170 has a much cleaner image, imo. I demoed both and went with the dvx because of the 24p mode and the fact that the image was more adjustable, but so did most people here. What answer do you think you're going to get at a website about the dvx? Honestly, they're both great cameras and each is better than the other for different purposes. Your friend's not wrong if he prefers the pd170; it has many advantages over the dvx.
