PCMCIA to USB

No device like that will ever work. The only external P2 card reader that will work is the Panasonic multi-slot reader, and those are $2000.

Thanks Barry. By the way I love your book. Have it right here next to my computer. I am a bit confused. I know that you can put a P2 card into a pcmcia slot in a laptop and it will recognize the card. Because my Macbook Pro has no slot that would fit in it is there any other device that could read the card? Isnt there a pcmicia to '34' (or whatever that slots called) device being developed:

Thanks

It's being developed, and is in beta testing now I believe.

Someone said the price runs about $200.00, but none of this is confirmed.

I thought the company had announced a price of $119.

Yes that's being developed, and apparently it's being developed specifically with the goal of having it work with P2. No release date has been specified, although I think we're all expecting it to arrive in the next few weeks.

I dont ever seeing a price mentioned at all. My guess is 150 bucks, but if they visited here often, id suspect they would raise the price to around 200 or 250. One 10th the price of a 2000 Panasonic card reader is a steal, no?

Come on, that would be definitly overpriced, we are talking about an adapter, you still cant do anything with it, without having a Laptop, so this will add some more salt in the soup...i guess 150 Dollar should e the maximum if i compare it to most other expresscard-converters.(like FW 800 or eSATA..)

Probably doesnt sound like Duel Systems decided yet, but i dont think thats too outrageous, especially thinking that any one with an HVX and an Express Card slot would buy it at almost any price under 250

I specifically remember a published price of $119. Here is one of the several.

The hardware is ready, it is just driver issues that are being tested right now according to the e-mails they have sent me. Dont forget this is direct to expresscard which cuts out the costly conversion to USB or Firewire. Those adapters would be much much more expensive. My guess is thst this will be list so you will be able to find someone selling it retail for as low as $99
