PCM-m10 + church audio preamp OR tascam dr100mkii

Julien, at what point are you going to settle on a single kit?

You have been asking about so many different combinations of mics, preamps, mixers, and recorders for well over 4 years now... and with absolutely NO resolution. Each time you come back with a question, it pertains to a (mis)matching of gear that is completely different from the time before. You've received plenty of good advice in most of those threads, and yet little of it seems to be applied with each next "test".

By my calculation, you already have a DR-40, DR100, PCM-M10, h4n, Juicedlink camera interface, SD302 mixer, and SD MM-1 preamp, not to mention a DSLR or two and at least one camcorder. Unless, of course, any or all of those were borrowed for your tests.

Here's what I recommend: pick something. Pick a kit. Run with it. Use it for everything, and don't waiver from it. Pick your best recorder, mixer/pre-amp, and mic selection (shotgun + hypercardioid + lavs, to cover all your bases) from what you already have on hand, and use that kit to produce content. The ONLY way you're going to learn to work through these things is to have a kit that you use consistently, learning how to address any quirks or challenges you have with that kit.

If you spend all your time "testing" from one kit to the next, never settling on one, you'll never get to the place you want to be. Further, any advice you get based on any of these "test" clips, conducted in a controlled environment (even if conducted improperly), isn't advice given you based on real-world application. You'll get much better (read: more useful) feedback based on working projects that you post than from silly "test" videos. The short doc you recently posted in User Films is a good start, as it gives us a chance to see and hear what you're actually doing when you aren't sitting in your living room trying to test through different "this vs. that" mics and recorders. More finished products, less A/B comparisons.

Learn the gear you have by using it over and over and over again, and once you know it well enough to know what it cannot do, you'll know well enough what you need to add to the kit to cover those capabilities.
