PC WORKFLOW questions

Hello,

Newbie here with a PC
I downloaded the free MainConcept transcoder provided by panasonic here

Has anyone tried it? The program keeps aborting on me. At the end of each transcode it aborts w/ a message saying it had a dropped frame.

I am also having problems playing my 1080 .mts clips on VLC. It strobes and has white interlaced lines. When I download mts from dpreview, they play fine.

any info is greatly appreciated. Been ripping my hair off for a week now.

i would not suggest this as a good option. try nero vision (think its less than a 100 bucks) or adobe premiere with 4.1 update (bit more costly). heard about power director by cyberlink and a few others that should do the trick for editing. no need to transcode on a pc - just edit natively. oh also heard sony vegas works. also in the nero suite you will get nero showtime which should play the files smoothly (which i think you can download for free or just try their free trial). also do you have at least 2 gigs of ram and a dual core machine?
