PC Offload

Got a colleague renting my hvx rig for a spec commercial. He is in a pc environment out in the field. (poor guy)

So he has no express adapter or powerbook to offload. (PCMCIA Slot??) He probably needs to go right out of the camera.

I've done it several times, just having the camera show up as a drive via the fw 400 port on a macbook. But Never with a pc.

I think he has a dell laptop running vista or the os prior.

Will this be a problem?

Any tips?

The PC workflow is usually a lot easier, especially if his existing laptop has a PCMCIA slot.

If not, just use the USB port (not firewire). Set the PC MODE menu setting to "USB DEVICE", plug in via USB, and then do it exactly as you would on the Mac -- go to MCR mode, hold the button down for 3 seconds, and it'll pop up as two external drives (one for each slot).

Thanks Barry.

quick reminder

Which sub menu is that Pc Mode In? And can you mount to a new macbook pro via usb. The firewire 400 is gone?

Admittedly there are some advantages to the pc world.
