Paypal is getting worse for sellers

So....Just to toss in another opinion here.

I've used Paypal since it started. I've done over $75K USD in transactions. In 8 years, I've had two conflicts were resolved fairly, according to their terms, and in a reasonable amount of time. Several times I've phoned, and spoken to a person, not a computer.

The 3% fee is standard for merchant rates. If you don't like that you can go to your bank and try and negotiate lower rates for accepting VISA, MC, AMEX, Discover etc. You can also get 1.5% back if you use Paypal's debit card. I don't think a merchant account from your bank will do that.

(If you don't like the fees have them send cash wrapped in aluminum foil to your house. Of course, if they don't have cash to buy your item, and were planning on using their credit card to increase their debt, or get miles/points on their card, I guess you are out of luck, and you'll have to look for a buyer with cash.)

...I'm just sayin'

We also use PayPal for our merchant services with the additional debit card facility. We don't do eBay auctions, but use the virtual terminal to process orders even when we're out of the office. That's a value to our customers.

The eBay environment is a much more risky one - one that most conventional banks / merchant service providers wouldn't touch with a ten meter pole - and I think PayPal's treatment of those transactions is merely a reaction to thousands upon thousands of transactions gone wrong.

I called today and spoke with a paypal rep. Seems that they're experiencing an increase in fraud. I have been told that after 24 hours (and meeting the criteria; positive feedback and delivery confirmation) all monies are released to your account. I certainly hope that's accurate.

Being proud of having a 100% feedback due to my practice of immediate payment and expeditious shipping to buyers, I feel that the policy is flawed and punishes those who do it right and honestly. Questionable vendors or buyers should feel the brunt of this "hold" policy, but others should not be treated as if they have violated the rules.

After paypal fees and "hold" interest lost - just my $.02, :)

Poor seller with less than 100 feedback and selling a high end stuff and bought by a buyer with more than 100 feedback and reversed the transaction and tell paypal that he received a bag of sand. Of course paypal will believe the buyer because of more feedback.

Paypal sucks!!!!

The buyer has to leave positive feedback and that they received the item for the funds to be released. I know because I bought something over 1500 and the buyer sent me an email stating the above. he has his money now and I have the camera...

Yeah, buyers are very happy. Sellers are very sad. You cannot even leave a negative feedback to a buyer anymore.
