Patch optimized for 720p 50/60fps ?

I'm wondering what is the best patch for 720p at 50 or 60 fps. Did someone work on this before ?

Looks like most people are filming in 1080p but most of my video will end up on vimeo or youtube so I think 720p is just enough. And also I like sometimes to do some easy 1/2 slow motion.

I have a second question, can I set my PAL GH1(3) to be NTSC and then shot at 60fps ?

Yes, with any of my PTool INI patch files, you can switch between PAL and NTSC modes at any time. Be sure to turn the camera off and on again after switching modes.

For 50/60p video, I'd recommend the Blackout-Powell Native 24p Patch. I'm currently testing out a patch explicitly optimized for 50/60p and will post an update on it in the coming weeks.

I've been using the 40Mb High Reliability patch with great results. I need the 60fps for what I do. So the Blackout-Powell Native 24 is your recommendation Mr. Powell? How are you finding the reliability compared to the 40mb patch?

Thanks!
Tim

Ok thanks, I will test this patch. But I think it would be nice to have a special patch for 720p. I will try the NTSC mode aswell, charging the battery now :)

I tried the Blackout-Powell 24 patch after reading this but had to bring the bit rate down to stop write errors in SH mode. 48XXXX overall and 46XXXX for FHD/SH worked well. NTSC by the way.

Ok it's working, now I got 720p at 60fps. Just have to make more tests to see if I dont have too many crash with my Transcend SDHC class 10.

And waiting for a dedicated 720p patch, I will be available for tests ;)

I also had card write errors shooting 720p with the Blackout-Powell Native 24p patch. Lowering the video bit rate to 41 Mbps (43 overall) helped; lowering it to 31/33 helped more.

I suppose it's time for me to upgrade from a Class 6 card to a Class 10 card.

In my testing of SH mode shooting (720p) the blackout-lpowell settings were no better than the defaults for a given bit rate. Actually I think the defaults were a bit more reliable. I had to reduce the bit rate quite a bit to get reliable shooting in SH mode with my SanDisk Extreme HD Video UHS-I card - 27 Mbps video and 29 Mbps overall. The video looks spectacular, so I shouldn't complain. But I wonder if I'm not getting as high of a bit rate as what other people are.

Still waiting for that 720p50/60 patch.....lpowell where are you!?

No problem so far with this patch but I just noticed quite a huge difference of sharpness between shots in 720p and 1080i. I will post a video soon.
