patariots suck!

I wanted the Patriots to win (though barely, I'm sick of them winning. Give me the Browns and Cardinals next year), but thought they lost it as much as anything. They slept walked through most of the game and had virtually no emotion on offense. And Brady played with little zip Oh yes, give the Giants credit. They played well, and won. They deserved to win. But the Patriots didn't have it.

Looking back, they had several games like this in the last two months. The Ravens, the Eagles, the Giants last time. Only this time they lost. I'm reminded of the 2005 Colts, or 1998 Vikings, 1996 Broncos or 2001 Rams that they beat. It doesn't matter how many touchdowns and yards you pile up during the regular season, if you're not playing well down the stretch, and you don't address that or make changes, you run a huge risk of blowing it all when you can least afford it. The Patriots just lost their game in the Superbowl.

Consequently, the Giants looked a bit like the Ravens team that got in as a wildcard and upended them in 2000 with stellar defense.

Next year could be a strange year. We have teams like the Patriots getting older. The Giants are going to have a huge target on their back, and teams like the Colts and Chargers should bounce back. Plus young teams like the Browns and Cardinals could do well.

The Packers, the Steelers, the Raiders, the 49ers, the Cowboys.

Can't put the Patriots with those guys because they never dominated their superbowls.

Miami (undefeated) and Dallas and San Francisco (both having 5 titles like the Pats) gotta love that outcome.

Pats only have 3 titles... They made to the Super Bowl 5 times before, and lost two of them. Now they are 3 and 3 at the big dance.

herbalmedia, thanks for correcting me on the number of titles.

I am sure that 19-0 magazine is expensive soon. Rumour says Bellicheat ordered the whole stock.

I'm from New England (originally) and I really, really, REALLY wanted the Pats to win. Most people don't understand this and all I seem to hear is how much everyone hates them.

You guys need to realize something . . .

For me and my fellow New Englanders, growing up in the 80's and 90's, the Pats were the most losin'ist team ever. They brought nothing but ridicule to us, especially when the Bears buried them in their first Superbowl.

So now that the Pats are actually a great team, we love every freakin' moment of it! We were the hopeless underdogs for years and years. Seeing the Pats have a perfect 19-0 season winning the Superbowl was all I really wanted to wrap up this generation of the team's winning streak. But, they goofed and the Giants played one helluva game. At least the Pats still have their 18-0 record, which nobody can take from them.

What is truly great about that Amazon link is that you can buy a bundle of the Pats 19-0 book with the Giants 2008 Super Bowl Champions book. Only one of them ships, of course.

I agree. Thank you for saying this.

Steve Spagnuolo is a genius. The job his D did on the Pats was pure artistry.

And I hear you Pats fans about suffering through the 80s and 90s, but c'mon, they won three Super Bowls in four years. Isn't that enough to make you forget the lean years?

I rooted for the Pats when they were 'dogs against the Rams, but last night, the Giants were my 'dogs.

Good post by DC.

I like the Pats too, agree that three Superbowls was enough and I really want new teams next year. Come on Browns!

After their showing in Green Bay, I started to hold out some hope for NY. I didn't see the game you all saw in the first three quarters, but the 4th was one for the books. I mean, I did see Brady crumble at the hands of the Giants, but the first 3/4s of the game wasn't exactly high art or particularly compelling football.

I don't know what happened with BB, but everyone was on the field before the game was over. Maybe he was the one guy who didn't hear the officials telling everyone to get back to the sidelines? Bad form, really bad form.

Losing the Superbowl after the season NE had must have been hard. If anything, you'd hope that going to, and winning, the Superbowl a few times would have given them a sense of grace - not entitlement. That's why a lot of fans don't just dislike the Pats but really HATE them.

They were thoroughly outplayed and, sadly, outclassed by the Manning boy.

As Will Ferrell would say, "Suck it!" Patriots.

So I read Belibaby left the sidelines with 1 second left. He wasn't sticking around for the final snap. Goes to show why I can't stand him or his team. Talk about poor sports and sore losers. They were outplayed and got beat then he shows what a tasteless person he is.
Maybe he was in a hurry to hit on another one of his friends wives after the game....
Pathetic.

Everyone thought the game was over after Brady's last incompletion and came running out onto the field (including Belichick and Coughlin meeting at mid-field). But there was actually 1 second left on the clock so the refs had to clear the field of players, press fans, etc., (which took a few minutes) so the Giants could take one last snap to make it official and run off the :01 left. Belichick, after meeting w/Coughlin, headed for the tunnel. There was no point in him turning around to go back to the sidelines just to watch the Giants take a knee to burn off the last :01 of the game.

EDIT: It's not like when Randy Moss, while still w/the Vikings IIRC, left the field w/a few seconds left in a loss against the 'Skins.

Almost! If they weren't 18-0 and in the Superbowl then it wouldn't have mattered nearly as much. It was just the ultimate victory that the Pats should have had had they played just a little bit better last night. Then at least they would've barely won.

I've gotta give it up for the Giants though. They played there hearts out and certainly outskilled the Pats in this one.

I do agree that their sense of "entitlement" outweighed their hunger to win. And also, BB should've stuck by his team 'til the bitter end.

Oh well . . . let's see what happens next season.

That was a great ****ing football game. Great defensive battle for the first three quarters and then that ****ing fourth?! What? Are you kidding me? Damn!

I knew Brady would get the Pats a score to go up in the fourth (what else is new?), but the Giants didn't fade away or give up hope, like a lot of teams did during the season. How many third and fourth down conversions did they get in that drive, like 4 or 5? And of course, "the play". Wow.

BUT, I told my wife... 35 seconds left? Brady and Moss? It ain't over yet! And sure enough, Brady bombs the **** out of the ball and almost picked up, like, a sixty or seventy yard reception. Same with the play right after. I was almost hoping for a catch and a field goal just to keep the game going in OT!

I'm not a Pats or Giants fan, but as a sports fan, this was a really great game in my book.

On a side note:
PITCHERS AND CATCHERS REPORT IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS! HOORAY!!!!!

New York All Day. Any Filmmakers Here From The Big Apple?

.

Sure there was, it's called respect. It's called being a good sport. A coach is suppose to set an example for the whole team and Belibaby is a poor excuse for a role model.
If I were The Giants I would have kicked a field goal on the last play. That after all is what the Patriots would have done if the shoe were on the other foot....... Then again the Giants are a little more respectable then that.....

Hells ya! NY all the way. Me and Frank Caliendo. The only ones who called it. No one else on Fox thought it would happen

Bradshaw did.

Great game! Sorry I'm chiming in late. As a Bronco's fan the season was disappointing- but this gave me something to root for. I was going absolutely nuts during that last quarter. We all knew Brady would put the Pats back in front late in the game- but when Eli pulled that amazing getaway out of his ass and the catch on top of it, the wife and I were like... "nooooooooooooo really??? Dare we hope?" Then that perfect pass to Plaxico. (sp?) Baboom. Tht's what Brady gets for being a smug mofo when interviewed about Burris' comment that the Giants would win by a nose and the Pats would have 17. He said something like "[The Patriots] are only going to score 17 huh? Give us some credit." Too much credit... heheh. He's got an "okay"life. I can hardly feel pity for the guy.
